Hi, we’re Spaceteams! We build high-quality software solutions that deliver real value – pragmatically, efficiently, and without unnecessary complexity. We work on a wide range of projects across industries such as e-commerce, gaming, publishing and more – always looking for new challenges.
Our culture is built around teamwork, agile ways of working, and measurable outcomes. We are direct, solution-oriented, authentic, and customer-focused in how we operate.
We are currently a team of around 20 people, working remotely across Germany, with our headquarters in Hamburg.
As a software engineering student (all genders), you will support our internal IT. Your focus will not be on client projects, but on our own system landscape and website.
You will work closely with 1–2 experienced developers and take on clearly defined technical tasks. The goal is to continuously improve and maintain our internal infrastructure in a stable, clean, and future-proof way.
About the role
You will:
- develop and optimise our website (e.g. PHP, Kirby)
- implement new features and improve existing functionality
- support deployments and releases (e.g. SSH, Hetzner)
- contribute to our internal infrastructure (e.g. Terraform, AWS)
- assist with administration of our system landscape (e.g. Atlassian)
- document your work in a clear and structured way
- regularly align with the responsible developers
About you
What you should bring:
- You are currently enrolled in a Master’s programme (Computer Science or similar), or nearing completion of your Bachelor’s degree with the intention to continue with a Master’s.
- You have solid knowledge of PHP.
- You are comfortable using Git and GitHub.
- Ideally, you have initial exposure to Pulumi and Terraform.
- You work in a structured way and can organise yourself effectively.
- You are not afraid to ask questions and actively contribute to solutions.
- You communicate confidently in either German or English (written and spoken).
- You have a valid EU work permit.
Additionally:
- Experience with Kirby CMS is a plus.
- Knowledge of TypeScript is nice to have.
- You have gained initial practical experience through student assistant roles, internships, or working student positions.
- You are comfortable working remotely and also enjoy joining our monthly onsite meetings in Hamburg.
Why join us?
You should consider joining us if you don’t just want to “work through tickets”, but want to understand how internal IT systems are properly built and sustainably maintained.
We value clear communication, avoid buzzwords, and focus on authenticity. At Spaceteams, transparency is a core principle. We celebrate successes together and learn openly from mistakes – without blame.
If you are eager to take ownership and help shape our internal technical foundation, you will be a great fit.
What we offer
- Salary: €17–€20 per hour, depending on experience and responsibility
- Working hours: 16–20 hours per week during the semester (preferably Fridays), with the option to increase during semester breaks
- Development: Direct collaboration with experienced developers and hands-on learning with real infrastructure
- Team: Regular team meetups in Hamburg and team events
Join us!
We love what we do and are already looking forward to meeting you.
Let’s build meaningful projects together.
